When painting a ceiling, what are the advantages of using a ceiling paint instead of a normal flat white paint?

Usually ceiling white is formulated/tinted to hide a lot of flaws, and it cheaper than paint.

Thats about it as far as I know.

That's true
Also:
The needs of a ceiling paint are a little different than a wall paint
Adhesion and anti-splatter are more important
Stain clean-up, washability, less important
Not many people can spill a Coke on the ceiling
Not many wash their ceiling either
So the formula of the paint is a little different

Also although it is fine to use wall paint on ceilings I would never use ceiling paint on walls. Lack of cleanability and durability.

Ceiling paint is also a different "color white" than flat whites for walls (although this does depend on the brand). Ceiling paint generaly has just a TINY bit of blue added to it to actually brighten it up a bit. Yes I know....."what can be lighter and brighter than pure clean white?"....but blue if added just a little bit will actually brighten a color a bit, make it look cleaner and also hide imperfections.
