We had some painting done about a month ago in an extra room in the house. I've noticed on the wood floor near the baseboards some dried oil paint speckles (a fair amount of them...almost like an overspray even though a brush was used). Is there anything that would be a safe removal agent to get this oil paint off tthe wood floors? Thanks.

Typically products like 'goof-off' & 'oops' won't remove oilbase paint. Sometimes you can very gently scrape the paint splatters of the floor. If done carefully any scratches can be hid with floor wax.

Works woth the grain of the wood with a brand new razor blade. Hold it at a very small angle...almost as if the blade it flat on the ground. If you are careful you will not put a signle scratch on the ground and the paint should "pop" right off.
Whatever you do....if you happen to scratch the floors....DO NOT WAX THEM!!!! Wax is the worst thing you can put on a wood floor. It will actually get into the wood and make refinishing them later on a nightmare. For more info on this cruise over to the woodfloor forum.
