I just replaced a dead blower fan motor in the attic and noticed that the system is not cooling. The fan on top of the compressor is running. The bigger copper pipe is not cold and wet.
The unit is four years old and has been working until the fan died. Since the fan quit at night and the unit was not shut down for a few hours, I wonder whether any damage was done to the system to cause the new problem. How do I proceed from here to diagnose and fix it?
Any help is appreciated.

Man I hate it when that happens. It can be very bad news when a blower fan fails leaving the compressor exposed to liquid slugging which will destroy it in short order. Not saying for sure that that is your problem, so first check for proper voltage going to the compressor before making a repair replacement decision. Usually if the condensor fan is energized the compressor is also energized. Post back if you need more help.
