i have a 225 moto 4 and on mine there is a cover at the top of the engine, where the cam is ( 2 screws ), if you remove that cover you will see the gear for the cam, there will be what looks like a scribe line on it, then if you look on the head in that same general area ( at the top of the opening ) you will see something like a "vee" and on the crank there will be a screw plug, not in the center of the crank but toward the top of it, remove that plug and line up the "t" on the crank with the "vee" then check the cam and see if the marks at the top line up, if not remove the tensioner adjuster and reposition cam gear till all the marks line up, hope this helps

Sloanman or Elast. Do either one of you know or tried yet to get the parts to rebuild a motor on one of these 86 Yamaha Moto4's 250? Are they hard to find and if you are the parts higher than normal? I live in Texas (Dallas area) Im very very ignorant about motors of any kind and have no mechanical skills at all but i'm tired of looking at this bike just sit there.

jim123, the parts are easy to get for these machines, i recently bored the cylinder, put in a new camshaft and rocker arms, valve grind, i don't really think any of the parts for these thing are resonably priced but whatcha gonna do, btw, it is a 225 not a 250, how much do you need to rebuild? bottom end? top end? is it seized? low compression?

I need the top end. You lost me on everything after that :) Sloneman can you give me a ball park figure on what I would probably be charged to rebuild the motor?

Thanks man
