I just moved and filled my waterbed in May but it already has a bad-moldy smell. I can order the conditioner and/or shock treatment online but I would like to be able to do something for it "yesterday"!
Wal-Mart carried the Blue Magic conditioner a couple years ago but I can't find anyone who carries it now. I have a couple more mattress stores to call.
Is there some kind of substitute I can use to put in my bed to help with the moldy smell and to condition it?
What is in waterbed conditioner anyway?
If you have any advice I would appreciate it!!

The best advice would probably be to get rid of the water bed!! I am actually working on that, I just can't afford a good mattress yet!! :)

That would be the WB conditioner, no substitute really

It is a combination of chemicals that keep stuff from growing in there and keeps the vinyl from cracking and helps it last longer

Treat the water ASAP
If you have a moldy smell w/o opening the cap, you have moisture somewhere outside the bladder (WB bag)

I had the same problem finding the waterbed conditioner. Believe it or not, I found it at an appliance repair store. Guy there said he sells a lot of it. Good luck.
