Outdoor Power Equipment and Small Engines - 2-cycle machines

I have four small yard machines. (Trimmer, snow thrower, tiller and leaf blower)

Three of the four have an oil-to-gas mix ratio of 32:1. These three specify the use of regular 2-cycle oil.

The fourth has an oil-to-gas mix ratio of 40:1 and specifies synthetic 2-cycle oil.

My question: Is there a way to avoid having to store the mixtures in 2 gas cans? Or if I use only synthetic oil, can the other 3 machines use the 40:1 mix without ruining the engines?

I don't see anything wrong with using 40:1 synthetic in all of them. If any are under warranty still, you might stick with what the mfgr suggests just in case something does go wrong later and they ask what ratio you are using. If you tell them you are using 40:1 when it suggests 32:1, then the warranty may be voided. Some people use 50:1 when using synthetic and I've seen no problems because of it. I've even heard of people running as lean as 100:1 ratio. Only with synthetic. I wouldn't run that lean myself, but I would have no problem going 40:1 in all equipment.

I don't think that I will go for the 50:1 or 100:1, but will stay with 40:1.

Cheese, i have a question, would it hurt to go 32:1 in them all, because i have quite a bit a 2 stroke "toys" and they call for ratios from 32:1 to 50: to 1
I mix them all at 32 to1 and they seem to run fine, but am i doing unseen damage here, or just blowing smoke lol
And i do run synthetic in them all

nothing that the exhaust port and spark arrestor screen will clog up, and the plug may foul easier. but thats why i remove the arrestor :)

yep so do i ,i got a year old Stihl FS46 from a neighbor for free, it would run,but barely. He had put a carb kit and a new reed in it and gave up.. FREEBIE!!!!!!!, i removed the arrestor and she run like a scared rabbit. I get a dirty look when he sees me using it :D

You might get some carbon buildup in the engine too, but if you run it at high speed and get it hot, it will keep the carbon from building up too much.
