A lot of places will offer free or low cost samples of their flooring lines. Other than color and texture, can anything else be looked at to determine "quality" flooring? Number of layers, composition, coating, how easy to dent/scratch, etc?

One other test I tried was pouring a little spot of water on a sample and leaving it overnight. Some samples tend to show the spot up a lot more than others, which could be helpful in deciding how resistant each floor is to spills or "other liquids". :dogrun:
