Good day folks! I recieved such great advice in another forum that I'm back for more.

I will be laying (nailing) 3/4" ash flooring (3" width). The subfloor is 2x6 with diaginal 1x6's over which I layed 30lb felt then covered with 5/8 plywood to add strength (the old floor sagged when walking over it). Is it o.k. to lay the finished floor directly over this subfloor or do I need something additional between the plywood and the finish floor.

Thanks for any advice,
TAfool

I would use some kind of rosin paper, to act as an installation aide and a squeak reducer between the subfloor and the finished flooring. A moisture retarder is ok, but not a moisture barrier.

Don't forget to check for flatness.
