I installed 3 low-voltage puck lights under my kitchen cabinets. It was a bear to hide the wires but I love the light they provide. What I hate is the rapid wear of the bulbs and apparently the fixtures. Bulbs last <6months, at which point one or both of the pins is corroded down to about half its original size. The ceramic "receptacle" that the bulbs plug in to seems to wear as well. Each successive new bulb fits looser and looser until I have to replace the fixture. I've had some luck bending the pins to make a tighter fit, but that's a short-term fix - eventually they corrode down to nothing and I have to put in a new bulb. At 4 bucks a pop, I'd rather not do that! Any ideas on why both the bulbs and the ceramic seem to wear out so fast?

'tis the nature of the beast, sad to say. Has to do with heat, for the most part.
