I have found an old metal desk that I would like to use but it is covered in old mactac. I have tried to scrape remove it but it only comes off in tiny strips. Any suggestions on how to remove old mactac?

Try a hair dryer--I'm not sure what mactac is, but a hair dryer works well for contact paper.
