I tried to hook up my surround sound speakers to my sony trinitron tv. i pluged the connector wires in the tv port on my reciever and i got sound, but it wasnt the full sound that my speakers could generate. so i tried to hook it up to the phono port on my reciever and i got the full sound, but my speakers had this weird buzzing sound in the backround, what can i do?

The sound you are hearing is being radiated by the television set into your receiver. You have a location problem it appears.
The television set has several oscillators
(horizontal, vertical, etc)and these, coupled with the high voltage circuit, radiate a magnetic field from the television set. I suspect that if you move the receiver about six feet away from the set, the problem will disappear.
