My son's room has been painted dark purple and yellow,(LA Lakers colors). He is off at college now and i want to lighten the room up. How do i paint over the dark purple without it bleeding through? Any help would be appreciated. Need to do it before my son comes home from college so he cant talk me out of it. :)

Get some Zinsser Bullseye 123 (http://www.zinsser.com/product_detail.asp?ProductID=11)in the Depot, and have it tinted toward the new color you have chosen. Clean the walls with some Soilax Pro if available from the paint store. Not available in the Depot. No sanding necessary.

Apply a coat of primer and 1-2 coats of finish. Don't worry if the color bleeds through the primer as long as you have a good coat of primer the top coat will finish the coverage.
