The lights dimmed in the house and a squeal or pop came from my speakers and now the receiver goes on but gives me no sound in any mode. What happened?

Good Morning, John Walton:
I would hazard a guess that one of the final amplifiers in the set gave up its life and shorted out. The result is a blown fuse in the internals. You should also check the speaker on that channel. The squeal and pop was most likely the voice coil dying.
