Hey folks I just replace a bad capacitor in my condenser unit. Everything is running great, and I’m really happy to have A/C back in my house. I don’t know if I just hypersensitive about my condenser unit or what, but every time the A/C is running now it seems that I can really hear the compressor working. I live in a town house community and none of my neighbors units seem to sound as loud. Could it be that I replaced the old cap with the wrong type? My old cap was the same as this one: 5uf 35uf 370 volt (minus the BX on the part number)

I replaced it with one that I got from RE Mitchell for $7.50. The specs on the new cap read: Oval dual run capacitor 30+5 MFD/ 370 volt. :wall:

Is this my problem? I think I picked up the wrong cap. Will this ruin my condenser running with this capacitor unitll I get the right one?

I don't think it will ruin it temporarily but I would suggest that you get the right one.

Do you think this is why my copressor seems to be running louder than expected?
