My engine wants to cut off at times when I engage my blades, it works well at times but all of a sudden it starts to act up, sometimes if I push in the clutch it helps but not always..
I figure it to be some sort of safty device but not sure reason I asked here

2002 Yard-Man Riding mower
20 HP Intek engine with a 42 inch cut.

Anyone here know what might be causing this, if so how can I fix the problem?

My first guess - place to check would be the seat safety switch. If it doesn't sense that your tail is firmly planted on the seat, it will kill the engine to keep you from trimming your toe nails.

Could be related to the seat but I disconnected that device when I bought the mower a few years ago, now that you say it though it could be a wire under the seat that is giving the problem.

I'd say, from your description, you need to clean the carburetor. The carb opens throttle a bit when you engage the blades, and if the fuel isn't quite flowing like it should through the jets, it will stall. Try this: Run the engine with the choke on partially and engage the blades. Does it engage better? If so, the carb is the problem.
