Bought a new Panasonic VCR that supposedly controls more than a dozen DSS boxes, except for the one I have which is an Echostar. If I bought a different receiver that matched one the VCR is compatible with, would it work with my satellite dish network? In other words do all makes of satellite receivers work with all small dishes? Thanks, Mike

Unfortunately no. But what I would do is take the Panasonic back and get a JVC. In my opinion JVC makes a better VCR, I have had JVC for years. The last one was junked due to Y2K and bought a new one and it controls my Echostar. It's a VP674U Hi-Fi/VCR plus etc. and the 676 I think is already out. Of all the VCR's I have repaired in 26 years of electronics service, JVC has been the one I saw the least of. I like Panasonic too, have a 27" TV that is really nice but I saw allot of Matsu****a (Mah-shu-stah) VCR's! Especially under warranty! Just my opinion and I could be wrong :)
