While installing a very small 20 watt halogen bulb, I somehow broke one pin which is now stuck in the fixture receptacle. I tried using a 1" x 1" X 1/8" magnet which is frequently used by electricians but it wouldn't dislodge the pin. Any ideas short of buying a new $180 fixture to extract this pin? Thanks for any advice and please email me if you can help.

Really small pliers.

but can you remove the socket from the fixture? If you're lucky, maybe you can use a paperclip or something similair and push the stuck pin out from the backside-assuming that the pins go all the way through the socket.

If worse came to worse, maybe a new socket instead of a whole new fixture? Try contacting the manufacturer.

Trying to help!

If you can get the socket out of the fixture, just replace the socket. They're dirt cheap and fairly easy to find.

Really stretching it here but, if the pin is sticking out just a little, maybe you could put a VERY small amount of super glue on a straightpin head and stick it on the top of the pin. Let dry and pull out. Even better, if the pin is hollow. Put glue on the sharp end of the straightpin and insert into the pin. Good luck.
