I have connected my european 220 v light fixture before but I cannot remember which wires connect. I would appreciate some advice

I would advise against doing this. The 220-volt European electrican system is different than the U.S. 220-volt system, and fixture design reflects this. A European fixture is not necessarily safe when installed in the U.S.
