I just bought a house that has dark oak cabinet doors with laminate sides. The previous owner hung a cup dispenser onto the laminate. I want to get it off there but don't know how to do it for fear of damaging the laminate. I am not a do it yourselfer, but now that I'm a homeowner, I need to become one! Please help.

Oh! The oak doors of these cabinets feel very "gummy". How do I clean them?

Sorry, Docduck, but I moved the post back to the Cleaning Forum because it was not a kitchen design problem. It's probably not a cleaning problem either, but if it is one of those peel & stick plastic dispensers there will be a cleaning problem.

If side of cabinet is plastic laminate like on countertops pry off dispenser with dull knife and remove sticky residue with solvent cleaner. If side of cabinet is vinyl (looks like contact paper) there may be some damage to vinyl when it is pulled off. Heating with blow dryer may help loosen the adhesive on plastic laminate, but it will likely raise the vinyl and probably would not be a good idea on vinyl. If dispenser was installed with screws, remove dispenser with a screw driver.

Keep us posted on your outcome.
