Hi! I am having a heck of a time removing an existing Schlage passage commercial lockset. Not sure of the model, probably AL10S. So far I have:
-Removed the levers, roses, screws
-Removed the short screws and the latch
Here's my surprise: The assembly on either side of the door won't budge! There doesn't appear to be a catch, but I'm not too familiar with commercial locksets. Any ideas on how to remove the assembled chassis? I can't get past the spring cage.
I would like to put a residential keyed lockset on the door. Any ideas if this is possible?
Thanks for any help!

There should be a castle nut that needs to be unscrewed, about an inch in diameter, on one of the sides. This is threaded on to the chassis and holds the spring cage on and tight to the door. The locks come with a plastic tool to tighten and remove them. Assuming you do not have that, you may be able to back it off with a punch or screwdriver and hammer to get it started.
