Hi, Need some advice on repair. I have a Murray model # 42591x8b. It will not operate forward or backward properly. I have adjusted the pedal, clutch, and changed the drive belt. After adjustement of speed control pedal it will work for a minute or so and basicly quit. What would be my next step to attempt to repair? I thank all in advance for your help. john

I assume this is a hydrostatic transaxle? If so, does it make a groaning noise when it quits? Does it work a bit better in reverse than in forward? If so, I'd say you've lost some of the oil in the tranny, or the tranny is going bad. If this is a standard shift, then this doesn't apply.
