I just got my simon 3 home security installed about 10 mins ago and already looking to add upgrades. They wanted $75 for extra door/window sensors. I said forget that and after a quick look around the internet I found that I can get them much cheaper.

MY QUESTION is can I install them or any other upgrade (motion sensor, etc...) on my own? And do I have to call ADT to add them on to my security system?

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP

I found out that I can enter the programming mode and hit add sensor
Then on the senor hit the find/trigger button for the alarm to pick it up.
Then I pick a name for it.
Then I pick a group. (Can i add another device to a group if they are already things in there)

Let me know if this is correct

Thanks
Ron

If you don't already have a programming manual for the system, you will need it. Yes, especially for the Simon-3, adding devices is pretty DIY friendly, as long as ADT didn't do anything odd to keep the end user from acessing program mode.

The "group" phraseology is a bit of a confusing misnomer. For every other brand except ITI the phrase is "zone type" or something similar. Wireless devices are each a zone by definition (ITI uses "sensor" when everyone else uses the word "zone").

Give the instructions a solid read, you shouldn't have too much problem.
