Hi,
glad i found this site! i will be replacing a tub into a bathroom that is 5 feet wide and 6 1/2 feet deep. the tub will be 5 ft long wall-to-wall. How hard will it be to install new tubinto such a small space. removal of old tub i know will be easy - big hammer. feel free to post here or email me.
Thanks,
Chris

The new tub will have a 1" high flange on three sides, that goes behind the wall covering. So, more accurately than thinking "wall-to-wall" think "stud-to-stud". It will hang on these studs.

Removing the old one and getting the new one in will require some demolition of finished walls both inside the tub area and in the bathroom area. Depending on the layout of the room, you may have to temporarily remove the toilet, the sink or vanity, and the door and casing.

Thanks for the info. We are gutting the whole bathroom anyway, so we will be removing everything in there. I was also wondering about the bathtub drain, this house is on a slab foundation, how hard & what special tools do i need to replace drain?
