Hi there.
I am new to this site, but I could use all the help I can get. I am in the middle of remodeling my bathroom, and I just got a new tub and surround. Both seperate pieces. The surround is the right size as far as width goes, but there is about a 1 1/2 foot gap between the top of the surround and the shower head. Is this normal, or not? Is there anything that I can use to fill the gap, or can I just leave it alone?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you mean it's not tall enough? Should be 72 inches above the edge of the tub..... If so, and the shower head is higher than that, you've got 2 options that I'm aware of..... leave it as is - and use good quality paint above the surround walls... or, if you're remodeling.... lower the shower head, which would be my choice. Easily done if the pipes are exposed.....

You could put ceramic tile up there also. ;)

Ugh. My ugly old bathroom is like that, too. Shower head above the 40 year old tile :wall: I was thinking about replacing it with tileboard made for the shower, but hubby has doubts as to how long that would last. I want to bring it all the way to the ceiling (sheets are long enough...) Has anyone had experience with that? (tileboard)

Hi AGrant -
We are in the same boat. Down in Australia, trying to fix up an old flat to live in while we are here. We are considering the same thing - some sort of tileboard or ceramilite sheet to cover the wall above the old tile. The shower head is also mounted along the LONG side of the tub, instead of the end! A bit weird, b/c there is no shower curtain, and when you turn on the tap, you hit the toilet!
If you get any advice about the tileboard, we'd love it if you'd pass it along!
Thanks!
