I just bought a new home and the tub diverter in my bath is not working properly. More water comes out of the spout than the shower head. I have a pull up diverter on the spout. There is a hole in the bottom of the spout, but I can not locate a screw to loosen. I have also tried to twist off the spout, but it just will not give. I do not want to bust any important pipes, creating myself more of a headache. Is there anything thing else I should try, short of calling a plumber?

BeccaFin, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
This is REACHING some for a solution, but since you cannot remove the spout yourself, it MAY work. The problem with the diverter could be calcium deposits. Take a double thickness of plastic wrap and tape it over the end of the spout. Pour vinegar into the hole where the diverter is. Let it sit as long as possible. This MAY dissolve the deposits. Good luck and let us know if it works.
