I am currently planning my kitchen remodel, and, ideally , would like to have the sink (and sink base) centered exactly underneath the window. However, it looks like the best I can do is get the sink within about three inches to center, given the limitations of the cabinet manufacturer I'm considering. Currently, I'm looking at a 30" wide sink base, with a 25" wide single bowl sink. The window is about 6' wide. So, I have two options:

1) Leave it "as is", i.e. with the sink (and its base) not quite centered under the window, or

2) Install the sink slightly (a few inches) off center in the sink base. In this way, the sink would be centered under the window :) , but the sink would not be centered within the sink base. :(

Basically, what I'm wondering is which is the more aesthetically attractive option...1) or 2). Is option 2) ever even done? I've never seen it myself. I'd hate to do it and find out after the fact that it looks really bad. Or would anyone even really notice? thanks for the help!!

IMHO, The least aesthetic is to have the sink offset from the sink base, you could have just as well elected to lay the cabinets out in a manner to; 1) center your sink base on the window, 2) configure the cabinets to have 4 equal size doors under your window which would lessen the impact of the sink being slightly off center.

Yeah that was my thinking. I really can't do much more to center the cabinets under the sink, unfortunately. There is an inside corner next to the window, and given the limited selection of sink base and corner cabinet sizes I have to work with, I just can't seem to get it any better. With the existing cabinets, it is off center also, and I didn't even notice until I started planning out my new cabinets. Just being picky, that's all. ;)

"Just being picky,"

That's part of your job. Something to remember in the future. Almost any base cabinet can be used as a sink cabinet.

As cabinets come in a myriad of sizes, usually in 3 inch increments, you might consider a wood spacer in that inside corner and a different size corner cabinet.....
