I am preparing to install a granite backsplash in a long kitchen that has no angles. I am concerned about the following issues:
1. Outlet Holes - I read that a diamond cutting head on a Dremmel is a good way to put the holes into granite . . . has anyone tried this?
2. Grout Space - Can I leave no grout space at all between the tiles so long as I seal the joints with an epoxy? If so, can anyone recomend a good sealer?
3. Thinset or Not - What should I use, thinset, or a latex wall mastic?
4. Sheet Rock Integrity - Do I need a backer or is my very sound sheetrock a sufficient base to hang granite tile on?
5. Cutting - Will my home depot wet tile saw with grinding blade cut granite?
Thanks in advance for your help!

If the sheetrock is in good shape then you can set the granite to it using a white colored modified thinset. You need a grout line of at least 1/16". Grout wont pack into any smaller opening but dirt, food waste and bacteria will. Use a nonsanded cement grout that can be mixed with latex additive. A wet saw should cut the granite , the strength of the motor will determine how aeasy or hard it will be. Dont know about the dremel attachments so I cant answer that. I use the wet saw or a diamond cutting blade on a right angle grinder to make outlet holes.
