I slipped in the bathroom (darn kids! :wall: ) and gave the toilet a shove...everything seemed fine, even tho I felt the toilet move about 3/4 of an inch...but it went right back into place, nothing seemed broken (ha ha...famous last words). So anyway, the next morning, I heard dripping behind the toilet -- turns out, the pipe that comes into the house from the wall (clean water) and goes up into the bottom of the tank is leaking right where it connects to the porcelin of the tank on the underside/outside of the tank. There's a two-piece white plastic bolt thing (is that the balcock?) on the pipeline...it's got about 3 or 4 threads between the two plastic parts. Anyone have any advice on how to stop this leak? I've drained the whole toilet tank and sopped up the extra water in there, so it's not leaking now, but is this a "DIY" thing or better to call a plumber? Thanks -- we talked about caulking around that nut, but I figured I'd better ask people who know first...lol

You can try tighening and caulk, but you should probably just replace the fill valve with the good ol' (and cheap) fluidmaster A400 for about $5 to $8.
This will have all the new parts to make a nice water tight seal and much less hassle.
Good luck with your project...

I had to go to lowes today so I asked there -- they gave me a new washer (shaped more like a funnel) for under the ballcock -- pulled off the old metal piping that came in from the wall, replaced the "o ring" or washer on the bottom of the ballcock, and tightened it back up -- replaced the pipe with flexible tubing, and VOILA! I fixed my toilet!! No leaking!!! I'm so happy to have done it myself without paying someone $65!! Sorry, but I'm normally very afraid to mess with plumbing...it cost me $4.33 at lowes for the two parts....woohoo!! :D
