I would like to finish my basement ceiling. It is currently exposed joists, and is 7' 2" high. I want to keep as much of that height as possible, and would also like to be able to get into it if I need to access wiring or plumbing.

Are there any ceiling tiles that attach directly to joists and can be removed as needed? Somebody told me that there's a type that snaps into place, but I can't find it.

If you have any other ideas, I'd appreciate your input.

Thanks.

We have the same specs for basement ceiling :)
Ceiling max - I am using it currently in my basement bathroom. It's a track system you can apply flush to the joists and use with any 2 x 2 or 2 x 4 tiles. For the rest of my basement I bought some 4 x 8 sheets of "one good" plywood (sanded and stained on one side) to apply straight to the joists. I'm gapping them an inch and covering the seams with 2" trim. If I need access I can just pull the sheets down as needed.

Thanks! That's just what I'm looking for.

I did a search of this site and found a thread about CeilingMax, and somebody mentioned a product called CeilingLink as well. They have very similar products, though CeilingLink is apparently cheaper. Unfortunately, the CeilingLink website lists their products as temporarily unavailable.
