We just had hard wood floors put down through our house. What is the best way to clean the floors? What is the best broom/mop/brush to do general clean-ups for dust and debris.

Thanks!!
Scott

We have a Hoover FloorMate. My wife used to spend most of a day on her hands and knees cleaning our floors, but the floormate has them done in a couple hours and she is upright the whole time. I think she likes me a lot more since I bought the thing.

How are the hardwood floors sealed? Polyurethane? Urethane? Poly you can use water based cleaners on. Urtheane you can not.

Most floors today have a polyurethane finish. If you have a polyurethane finish, avoid any products that contain waxes or oils. Never wax or oil floor finish. Avoid treated dust mops. Avoid any product that will leave a residue that will soften and dull finish over time. Follow prefinished flooring manufacturer's or finish manufacter's recommendations for care and maintenance of floor finish.
