I HAVE A 30 YEAR OLD KITCHEN FLOOR THAT WHEN I TOOK UP OLD VINYL TILES THERE WAS 1/4" BROWN BACKERBOARD ON THE FLOOR THAT IS IN GOOD SHAPE EXCEPT A FEW OPEN CRACKS BETWEEN THEM. HOW DO I FOX THIS AND CAN IT BE USED FOR NEW CERAMIC TILE? :coffee:

That's not backerboard, it's either luan or masonite and was used for the vinyl, it needs to come up as well, then let us know what you have for a subfloor underneath that, joist size, spacing and length of unsupported span.:)

I have hard wood flooring under the old brown board.
I will use something else then but what do you recommend durock?
Also what would be a good ceramic tile cutter? What type or name brand of wet saw should I use. Thanks for all your help

Ok On The Wood But Can You Recommend A Good Wet Saw To Use?

What type of tile and size are you cutting, is this saw for this job only or for regular use?:)

Prices start as low as $50 to $2500 and up.:)

All will do a one time job.

I myself own a Target and a Felker, 2 of the best there is, also a Rubi score and snap cutter.:)

Yes It Would Be For This Job Only And The Tiles Are 12 X 12 On The 2nd Floor Apartment And 13 X 13 On The 1st Floor.

Just about any wet saw will handle it, and most tile showrooms will lend you a decent snap cutter also for the job, just ask, many do.:)
