I need to do the tiling around a new bathtub installation, and need a bit of help. I have read about a dozen guides on how to do it, but all of them have failed to provide me with the one piece of information I need to get started: When I begin the first row of tiles, do they sit on the bathtub edge, or do I use spacers to separate them from the bathtub?

I was able to find an answer to my first question: The tile should be 1/8" above the tub edge. But now I need to find out how I should make the corners of the walls meet. Should I have the back wall go flush with the two side walls, and space the side wall tiles off of this? Or should the tiles be spaced off the edges of the flanking walls to allow for some grout?

Do the back wall first, leave a 1/16" gap from the side walls, now tile the side walls, leave the same gap from the back wall tile, these gaps get caulked with a matching color to the grout, most grout manufacturers have matching color caulks.:)
