This is a 2 year old house, the can lights (recessed lights) keep blowing out the bulbs. There are six and 5 are out. I noticed some black soot on the ceiling next to one.

The wattage of the bulbs may be excessive causing them to overheat & burnout.Try reducing the bulbs wattage

The black soot is caused by air movement past the housing.
