View Full Version : Grease on clothes after dryer

After only three years of use, my Kenmore dryer stopped working. I had a repair service make a call and after much looking which included taking out the drum, he found the problem. He said there was a relay switch that turns off the machine when it detects the belt has broken. However there was no broken belt just a defective switch.

Ever since the service call, I noticed grease makes on my clothes after I remove them from the dryer. My question is does anybody think that the dryer or the washer would be the culprit?? It seems sort of strange that the problem would occur right after the service call.

Hi:raff

The only location in a dryer where grease could come from, that I am aware of, is from the rear drum bearing.

However, why the service rep would have to remove a drum with this type of drum support to replace that defective switch is a puzzle to me.

It could be from his greasy PAWS maybe?

The washer can also cause the grease to be on the clothes. That drum also has a bearing and a gear box. If the seal becomes damaged, grease will find it's way into the drumm and onto the clothes.

Check both machines drums and see if you can verify which may be causing the problem. Also report the problem to the repair agency so as to be on record of having this problem after a recent repair.

You may also want to post this exact question in the electric appliances forum for alternate ideas from Jeff1.
