Hi all,
I do volunteer handyman work for seniors in my area. I have a senior that needs a grab bar intalled in her shower. She has the pre cast fiberglass shell type. There is a space between the shell and the studs and I am not sure if I can make it safe.
Suggestions?

The manufacturers of most molded tub/shower units specify that you may NOT install grab bars in the units. Even if you found a stud and put a very long screw through, all that space behind would all the grab bar to rock and the fibregals would quickly be damaged.

Alternatives include putting a long vertical bar just outside the shower near the entry point, and using a shower chair in the shower.
