Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for your help so far and answers to my questions. I have some new question's.

We're now considering 4x4 tiles for the kitchen backsplash. I know there will be cuts around outlets etc..and we have borrowed a wet saw for those. But we're not sure what to do in a couple situations.

Where we have to start the tile, the top cabinet and botton cabinet is not matched up completely. (They are off set from each other) Do we need to use tile that has bullnoses and corner pieces?

Also we have light cove moldings under the top cabinets, so its going to be hard to get the tile all the way up unders with out alot of cuts. We've seen pics of tile jobs in magizines where the tiles don't go all the way up the wall under the top cabinets, just one or two rows of tiles. If we do that, does the top row all have to be bullnose tiles?

Also we have a window over the sink that doesn't have wood molding around it, how do we butt the tile up to it? I wish we could show pictures of the problems in question, I hope I've made sense with all of this.

Thanks alot for the help and advice. We're trying to think of everything so as not to find ourselves in a mess while doing the tile job. :o
Debbie

Lost ya with under the cab. question, but you start on the counter with a 1/16 to 1/8" gap and proceed to the cabs above, upper and lower gaps get caulked with a matching color, depending on type of tile, yes, bullnose can be used for tile that just ends on a wall, they also make trim pieces for this as well if bullnose isn't available.:)

Stone is a different story.:)

Thanks so much for the response. Sorry not sure where I lost you with the questions. I'm kind of lost myself :wall:
I know they make a lot of trim pieces as well as bullnose and caps for regular glazed ceramic tile.
However we're thinking of using the 4x4 Rialto tile at Lowes. And we're also wondering since we've seen so many pictures of people doing just the 2 rows of tile, Do we have to use a bullnose or trim or can we just end the top row with a regular tile, no bullnose?

And not sure how the tile will look with only 2 rows. Our counter top is laminate without a back splash right now. The counter goes straight into the wall. (sorry not sure how to describe it)
Also if you know of any kitchen back splash pics on the net that we could get ideals from, please add the address on here for us :D

Also if we do use stone tile with no bullnose and caps...how do we end or begin those?
Thanks again

I don't know how to post pictures on this site, but I have plenty of backsplash photos of jobs I've done, ceramic, custom, tumbled stone, you name it, send me an E-Mail address and I'll E-Mail them.:)
