I have installed a farmsink which sits level to the countertop. There is a 1/2" gap on one side and 1/4" gap on the other side between the sink and the cabinets (made of concrete). To the back there was a wider gap which has been filled with 2" wooden block.

I am using 17 x 24 tiles for the countertop. Should I protect the wooden block before laying the tiles?
What is the best way to lay these tiles? Since the sink is level with the countertop, I plan to carry the tiling to the inner edge of the sink. Should I use the large tiles and cover the edges with tile strips or use bullnose/v-cap endings?
Since the v-cap is about the thickness of the sink. That would leave the gaps open and I am not sure if any joining between the v-cap and the actual tiles would be possible.

Any suggestions for a solution?
