I have just bought 4 beautiful old chairs on ebay, hoping to 'teach myself restoration'! However, the tops of 3 of the chairs are chipped and I wonder whether I should try filler. The seat grips (the wooden seat is kind of contained within a molded wooden grip) are fine on all bar one which is split right through and this seems to be making the chair 'rickety'. Please can anyone advise? Thanks
