hey all - just sanded down the floors in my old house. house used to be a drug house, so they were BAD! no suprise, I uncovered what is obviously a pee stain. some dumb*** decided that the corner was better than the toilet or outside. YUK!

anything I can do to get the stain out (white oak)? It does not smell too bad, just looks bad. (Dark gray stain on white oak floor).

would wood bleach work? do i have to do the entire floor, or just the stained area? Where do you buy it/ what brand? thanks! :D

I refinished one of my rentals that was heavily stained. You can sand until the cows come home and still have some visible evidence of the stain. I stained the floor with a custom stain ( test stain your area if you want before you put the sander away) and after 3 coats of urethane could barely make out the original stain.
Whats left can be covered by a nice corner plant :)

yeah, I even tried to make a divot with the big old drum sander, but all I got was a divot, stain still there! I ran over it with the edging sander, which did remove some on the edges, but stain still there! DANG. Yeah, I'll probably just consider it a "feature". "what's that?" "oh, I think someone spilled a coke there..."

dang. :D

Yep....not much you can do about urine stains. Really the only thing other than staining the floor as mentioned, is to pull up the boards a replace them........personaly I like the plant suggestion :).

I just removed all of the w-w carpet in my small ranch house. Former owner had a dog that apparently peed alot in the house. Now my house broken dogs are claiming their territory.. I have been fairly successful in removeing some pretty serious black stains with a 5 per cent solution of oxalic acid.
( 5 grams of powder to 100 ml of HOT water. Sand the finish off, saturate the stain with the acid and cover with a damp cloth. It took about 1/2 hour to see the stain start to dissappear. It left a greyish color on the floor but I believe it will sand down and refinish fairly well. The bleaching solutions you buy are VERY concentrated hydrogen peroxide and sodium hydroxide if you go this route be very careful of potential chemical burns.
