Hi,

I was scraping my wall that had many coats of paint and wallpaper.I exposed a 1 1/2 inch wide crack.the crack runs 4 feet long across my wall. The crack is hollow.I can see my neighbors wall using a flashlight. It looks like the original developers used brick then thick coating of plaster on top when it was developed.

Can this be fixed?.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

I am working on a bedroom wall(2nd floor) in a city rowhome that is connected to my neighbors wall. There was a lot of coverup(people masking problems over the years).I decided to scrap all the paint and wallpaper off and found big cracks behind it.

The house was built around 1920-1930

I can see right through the cracks(4 inches deep) into my neighbors wall.

I was wondering what I would have to fill those cracks with before I replaster the wall.

Thanks a fast reply

John

hi
Well there some issue here
you should have a fire barrier between the apartment for security
i guess in the 20's that was not a code violation but i would check into it anyway if the crack are less than 1/2 in just used drywall tape and plaster over them
