I just removed the ceramic wall tile from my bathroom wall, but most of the adhesive stayed on the wall. What is the best way to remove the adhesive from the wall.

Depends on the type of adhesive. Thin set - scrape and sand, mastic - mineral spirits and a lot of elbow grease. :)

Whats the wall made of and is it in the wet area of a tub/shower surround? You might be better off replacing it with new cement board and putting a vapor retarder up first to protect the wall studs from water in the future, if it is in a wet area.
