We recently had a leak in our A/C duct that caused condensation on our ceiling. This has all been repaired. We have tried to paint over the stain but it just keeps coming through the new paint. The stain is now dry. Do we need to prime it first? It is a popcorn ceiling.

Yes it needs priming with a stain hiding primer. The oil base or shellac base primers work the best. 1 coat of primer and 1 coat of paint should be all you need.

Have had the same problem, I used BINS primer. Use the shallec kind. It really has a strong smell, but works well. Prime, open the windows, and leave the house for awhile, becasuse the smell is very strong..There is low odor BINS, but the shellac works much better
