How do you rewind the spring on a homelite string trimmer, that controld rewind of starting cord?

Is the spring out? If not, leave it in and just wind the spool in the direction that it would go when you pull the rope. Wind until it stops, then back it up enough to line up the holes for the rope, and insert the rope, tie it off, and let it wind the rope back in.

If the spring is out, good luck....it takes patience and strong hands to wind it up enough to get it back in place.
