I was trying to replace my chrome recessed soap dish in my tub and found mold behind it, I also inadvertantly removed 5 or 6 tiles in the process which also had mold behind them. I cannot take on the job of removing and replacing all of the tiles (they surround the tub and go up about 3/4 of the wall) so I am going to try and dry the area, recaulk and hope that I can contain the problem, the tile is in excellent shape. I have tried to soak the tiles that I removed (they were set on some type of paper backing) to clean them, but I don't know how to remove the adhesive that was originally used. What should I do? All I was originally trying to do was clean an old tub and paint the walls. Please help!

That paper is probably the drywall backing, if so, time to get out the credit card and start shopping.:)
