My indoor kitchen shutters [four pair] and kitchen wall paper [good quality-light color] were installed during smoking days six years ago. Shutter people want an arm and a leg to repaint, wall paper is on ceiling and fur down only,
walls are old tongue and grove which were repainted vanilla bean twelve years ago. We we will probably move in a couple of years.

Naturally, wife wants new wall paper, paint walls taupe, and have the shutters factory repainted. I want to repaint wood vanilla bean and:

An all-purpose cleaner/degreaser should do well for washing down walls and woodwork. Paint and paper tend to yellow from age, sunlight, gas heat, and cigarette smoke.

Of course, a fresh coat of paint and some new paper might make the house more marketable. If paper is in good condition and does not date the home, perhaps cleaning will be satisfactory. If shutters do not clean up very successfully, they can be spray painted or painted with a brush. Or, they can be removed and some inexpensive blinds and/or curtains installed.
