I just installed a new sink/cabinet and used one of those lovely pre-made laminated countertops. However, there is about a 1.5" gap between the short backsplash and my wall (the counter top isn't sitting flush against the wall). Does anyone have suggestions for how I can seal off this gap so water doesn't splash behind the cabinet? THANKS!

Is the wall bowed or is the countertop?
The countertop should be flush... or at least less than 1.5" flush, against the wall.
Is there something stopping the countertop from sitting back the whole way?
The question boils down to why ISN'T the countertop flush against the wall?

If it's because your base cabinets are deeper than your counter, I suppose you could build that wall out with a few layers. I don't know what the surface of the wall is now, but I was thinking of say a 3/4" plywood, then 5/8" drywall, then tile or something.
How much overhang does your counter have in the front?

You're right Timinindy, the gap is there base cabinets are deeper than my counter top. The wall is drywall and you're suggestionto build it up some more seems like a good one.
I welcome any more suggetions others may have. Thanks a lot folks!
