Hello--

I have a solid red microsuede couch and chair, contemporary coffee table and primary color blue for curtains (with a red, blue and off white valence on top). What color should i paint the walls of my living room? I'm obviously not afraid of color, but i still want the room to be warm and welcoming. I'm also looking for examples of rooms that are painted that contain red furniture... that will give me the best feel for things. I don't have much sunlight coming into the room. Help... I'm sooo close to having a complete living room!

Thanks!

might as well choose a yellow tone & go for the Triad color scheme.

Yellow is what i was thinking, but picking out the shade is difficult. Do you know of any sites that have examples of red furniture and yellow walls? I've found that in the shade, yellow walls appear brownish... I'm trying to avoid that even though my room doesn't get a lot of sunlight.

click here (http://www.roomstogo.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=getRoomsSearchResults&pageNumber=2&roo_type=Livingroom&lowestprice=1199.99&highestprice=2299.99&changepriceRange=) . you should see a furniture grouping called Easton Red - red sofa with yellow walls. see the rug? that's what's pulling this look together, and that's what you need, too. trying to get several solid colors to look like the go together is difficult without a multi-colored item to unite them & make them make sense together. it can be just a throw pillow or a bold piece of wall art, or for a lot of impact, an area rug. but something like that.

since you're already using a strong red & blue, i think i would not use a strong yellow on the walls. instead, use a paler version of a bright yellow and save the bright yellow for accessories. otherwise, you won't be able to stand being in that room! unless most of your wall space is broken up into small areas, then you'd be okay.

what's your flooring?

this was just the first picture i came across. what i do to find pictures is go to furniture company websites. a lot of them use fully decorated room displays. so pick a major name brand & go to their website. like pottery barn, surefit slipcovers, penneys, etc. also good are window covering websites - any online store that sells draperies usually shows them in room settings.

hope that helps.

There is a paint website (and for the life of me, I cannot find it right now), which allows you to select the wall colour, trim colour and sofa colour. It really is an excellent way to visualize your room.

If I find it, I'll post here.

I think that a nice tan shade would work as well.

Benjamin Moore has a gorgeous yellow called Sundance. If you go to their website, you can see swatches of their colors and even virtually paint a room with it.
