Can anyone give any tips on fitting these blinds? The fixing bracket only allows fitting to the face or the top of the recess. The face of our window is too small to attach to and the top of the recess has a steel lintel running across the top which, so far, has proved nigh on impossible to drill into. I cannot locate alternative brackets to use so "How do I drill into the lintel to attach the bracket?" It appears to be indestructible! Is there a special drill bit to use?

are you sure there aren't holes in the brackets so that you can install into the sides of the window frame (inside mount)? usually the brackets have holes in the top and sides.....??
by venetian blinds, do you mean horizontal mini blinds, or the big old fashioned 2" venetian blinds?
what brand are they?

Old fashioned?....my wife prefers to call them "classic or timeless"!! (No offence taken).
There are no side fittings as the bracket needs to be installed 3" to 4" from the edge and has a bolt that goes throught the top rail of the blind and is secured with a butterfly type nut.
I know the type of fitting you refer to but, unfortunately, this isn't one of those.
Any other suggestions would be welcomed.
