Hi, We need to fix a wall. It has been infested with termites and some of the sheetrock is completely gone. It will cost us six hundred dollars to have a contractor to do it, so we would like to see if we can do it ourselves. The wall faces the backyard with wood panels on the outside. This is our dining room wall which is connected with the kitchen. When fixing the wall we will have to replace the windows and door. What would be the steps to take to get this accomplished? How do we tear down the old sheetrock? What if the wood structure is damaged? How do we repair that? How do we set up the new sheetrock and get it set for painting? How would we set up the windows and door and make them air tight? Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

Welcome to the forum
You can get a lot of info on the work you need to do from researching the various posts on the DIY forum. Tearing off sheetrock is fairly simple. Make sure all wood trim that would be in the way is removed, be respectful of wiring. Replace all decayed lumber. Be sure window is installed plumb and caulk or insulate around periminter, same with door. There are many posts describing the steps of taping and finishing drywall. With a little care and common sense it is a job that most who are willing can accomplish. :)
