I've checked the braker and the dishwasher which is on the same outlet is working fine.
What else should I look at?
Thanks...

Did you try the reset button on the bottom of the Disposal.

Where do I find that?

I found the little red button, pushed it and then tried to flip on the disposal. It gave a low hum this time (an improvement) but then flipped off again and pushed out that little reset button.
My suspicion is that there is something caught in there which is causing it to not be able to move and therefore get hot and cut off...how do I tell? How do I keep from chopping off my fingers and tell? ;)

I didn't find any foreign object or anything that should be "stopping" the disposal. It clicks off the emergency reset every time I try to run it though...
Any suggestions?

Cant be specific.
I had one, that a small child's fork about 3 inches long got wedged between the inside wall and the blade disk.(3-1/2" diameter) that turns.
I did not see the fork until I removed the disposal, you need a lot of light.
You can try this.
Unplug the unit,
Take a wooden broom stick handle try to turn the disk with the blades/hammers in both-both directions.
Don't push down to hard, you want to turn it.
Maybe that will free whatever may be wedged, then remove the object.
If nothing is wedged inside, you will need to replace the unit.
The bearings get rusted inside the motors, and just lock them up, from turning.
